Data processing methods

Usage data (logfiles)

When you visit our website, we process so-called usage data on a temporary basis and in accordance with Article 6, para. 1, point f of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We use this usage data for statistical purposes in order to improve the quality of our website, and for security purposes. In addition, we use this information to enable the website to be accessed, to check and administer our systems and to improve the design of the website. The purposes for which we use this data constitute legitimate interests as defined in Article 6, para. 1, point f of the GDPR.

The dataset consists of:

  • the webpage from which the file was requested
  • the name of the file
  • the date and time of the request
  • the quantity of data transmitted
  • the status of the request (file transmitted, file not found)
  • a description of the type of web browser used
  • the IP address of the computer from which the request was made

Applications

We provide you with the opportunity to apply by email for vacant positions. Your application details are forwarded to the people responsible for the vacancies advertised and are used exclusively to select applicants.

The legal basis for this data processing is Article 88, sentence 1 of the GDPR in conjunction with section 26, subsection 1, sentence 1 of the German Data Protection Act (decision regarding the establishment of an employment relationship).

After the selection procedure has been completed, the information provided by you for the specific selection procedure and the documents you sent are deleted or destroyed after six months insofar as we have not concluded a contract of employment with you.

Use of cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files that can be stored and read on your end device. They make it possible to retain information for a certain amount of time and to identify the computer of the user. This makes navigation easier and makes our website more user-friendly. To achieve this, we use so-called “session cookies”, which are automatically deleted when you close your browser. The data that is processed by cookies is necessary for the above-mentioned purpose of protecting our legitimate interests as well as the interests of third parties in accordance with Article 6, para. 1, point f of the GDPR. You can set your browser in such a way that it informs you about the placing of cookies.

YouTube

We also embed videos from the provider Google Ireland Limited (YouTube) on our websites. The videos are not stored on our servers. If pages with embedded videos on our website are visited, this means that content of the third-party provider that is making the videos available is loaded. As a result, the third-party provider receives the information that you have visited our webpage as well as the usage data that is technically necessary in this context.

We have no influence on the further data processing carried out by the third-party provider. Nevertheless, in embedding the videos on our website, we made sure that we activated the extended data protection mode offered by the third-party provider. This extended data protection mode means that the third-party provider does not place any cookies.

This embedding process is carried out on the basis of Article 6, para. 1, point f of the GDPR and with the intention of designing our webpages to be as appealing and informative as possible.

Insofar as data is transmitted to Google LLC when a video clip is played, the appropriate level of data protection provided by the certification of Google LLC in accordance with the EU-US Privacy Shield is guaranteed.

Making contact

You can contact us by telephone or via electronic post. The data you provide is processed by us so that we can deal with your query. Your data is only forwarded to third parties in so far as this is necessary to deal with your issue. The legal basis for the processing of your data is Article 6, para. 1, point f of the GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in being in contact with the users of our website and, where necessary, in being able to answer questions we have been asked or to send information.

Google Maps

This website uses Google Maps to show maps and to create route plans. Google Maps is operated by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. If you use Google Maps, information about this use (in particular, the IP address of your computer) can be transmitted to a server belonging to Google LLC in the USA and stored there. We have no influence on any further processing of this data that may be carried out by Google LLC. The processing of your data when you use Google Maps is carried out on the basis of Article 6, para. 1, point f of the GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in providing you with information about our location and in making your journey to us easier. If you do not consent to your data being processed by Google LLC, please deactivate the JavaScript function in your browser. In this case, you will be provided with a restricted view of websites. You can also find detailed information about the data protection provisions of Google at http://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/.

Insofar as data is transmitted to Google LLC when you use Google Maps, the appropriate level of data protection provided by the certification of Google LLC in accordance with the EU-US Privacy Shield is guaranteed.

Categories of recipients of personal data

In order to provide certain services, we use service providers (the processing of these service contracts is in accordance with Article 28 of the GDPR). These service providers process your data exclusively in accordance with our instructions and are required to observe the applicable data protection provisions. All processors have been carefully chosen by us and only have access to your data for a long as and to the extent that is necessary for the services to be provided.

To process your data, we also use service providers that are located in third-party countries located outside of the European Union. Countries outside of the European Union manage the protection of personal data differently from countries within the European Union. Currently, the EU Commission has not passed a decision to say that, in general, these non-EU countries offer an appropriate level of protection. For this reason, we have adopted special measures to ensure that your data is processed in these non-EU countries just as safely as it would be within the EU. Details about the measures we have adopted for such cases can be found above.

Duration of data storage

We delete your IP address, which is stored in logfiles, after seven days at the latest. This data may be stored for a longer period if this is necessary to assert, exercise or defend legal claims. For the rest, we only store your data for as long as this is necessary for us to provide our services and provided there are no statutory retention periods that prevent deletion.

Your rights

You have the right to demand information about which data about you us being stored by us and what the purpose of this data storage is. In addition, you can correct incorrect data or have any data deleted, where its storage is not permissible by law or is no longer necessary. In compliance with statutory preconditions, you have the right to data portability and the right to restrict the processing of your data. You also have the right to file a complaint with a supervisory authority about the data processing that is taking place.

Information about your right to object

You have the right, for reasons that are to do with your personal situation, to register an objection to the processing of your personal data. The precondition for this is that the data processing is being carried out in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 1, points e or f of the GDPR.
